Drought

benjamin-teong.jpeg

People come and people go like seasons in our lives
Yet feelings stay and never leave, they stubbornly survive
Though faithful Spring with surety is apt to come again
Here I am yearning for you like the earth remembers rain

Cigarette ash falls as snowflakes in this sad, vacuous room
The remnants of a withering flame cooled in Winter's gloom
Summer's heat with short passion burnt with all consuming fire
Then my Fall left the landscape bare for frost to quench desire
