Two Years From That Day

Two Years From That Day

It has been two years today from that day;
That day when I begged you to stay;
That day when you chose to walk away;
But the pain still feels like it was just yesterday.

“Say it until you mean it,” they say,
“Lie to yourself until it becomes echt.”
It has been two years from that day,
Two years since you left.

Most days I feel okay,
Sometimes I miss you.
It has been two years from that day,
Two years since you chose to go.

I still think of you, how you are,
If you are comfortable in someone else's arms.
It has been two years from that day,
Two years since you told me to wait.

I was still hoping to be your last,
The one you'll kiss and greet goodnight.
All I had was faith and trust,
With waiting for you I never got tired.
It has been two years from that day,
Two years since we died.

I still dream of you sometimes,
Wishing it was all real when I wake up,
Wishing it would come true some time,
But I know our time was up.
It has been two years from that day,
Two years since you went by.

I tell myself I'll get over you,
Maybe not now, but someday.
I may be used to living without you,
But I still long for you some days.
It has been two years from that day,
Two years since I became a stray.

It has been exactly two years today.
Two years and I'm still in pain.
For years you were my forever and always,
But someone will come and take your place.
I may miss you once in a while,
But that doesn't mean I need you back in my life.

It has been two years today from that day;
That day when I begged you to stay.
But I need you now no more,
Maybe two years ago, but not anymore.
